BACKGROUND

The key arts and cultural organisations of the Hunter have established an agreement and arrangement for cooperation and collaboration to strengthen the combined voice of arts and culture in the region and to collectively advocate for support and investment to achieve agreed arts and cultural priorities for the region.

The Hunter Regional Plan 2036 and the Greater Newcastle Metropolitan Plan 2036 set out a vision for the Hunter to become the leading regional economy in Australia with a vibrant new metropolitan city at its centre.

Newcastle and the Lower Hunter region have an exceptional arts and cultural sector, which offers professional opportunities, programs and services in contemporary art, dance, literature, performance, screen, and community cultural development.

The region is on the cusp of significant change and there are many opportunities to evolve.

HCA is currently guided by a committee, which includes: Newcastle Writers Festival director Rosemarie Milsom (Chair), independent film producer Annette Hubber (Deputy Chair),Finance Director Tim Askew (Treasurer), music consultant John Davis (Secretary), Catapult Dance Choreographic Hub founder/director Cadi McCarthy, Maitland Regional Art Gallery deputy director Courtney Novak, and The Creator Incubator founder/director and artist Braddon Snape.

We welcome new members of the committee and would love to hear from you if you have time to contribute to shaping the future of Hunter Creative Alliance and its activities.
