Artist Bio

Allison holds a Bachelor of Music (Voice) through the University of Newcastle and a post Graduate Diploma of Education ( University New England). Allison has performed in over 80 local productions in her 28 years involved in the Newcastle Theatre Community, where she has had numerous lead roles in musicals and plays, she has both Directed and Musical Directed.

Allison is the Associate Director for Knock and Run Theatre, earning a City of Newcastle Dramatic Award nomination for Best Director of a Dramatic Play In 2018 “Year Of The Rooster” and again in 2019 for “Circumference Of A Squirrel”. In 2019 Allison played the lead role in Newcastle Theatre Company’s “Peep Show” earning a nomination for Best Actress in a Dramatic Play.

Allison is passionate about new work, as well as devising ensemble based theatre. In 2017 she was the recipient of the Tantrum Trajectory Residency creating her new work- “WELCOME” for the Newcastle Crack Festival.

Allison is Head Drama Tutor at Hunter Drama and in 2019 Allison was excited to accept the role of Teaching Artist for the Actors Company. The same year she devised and directed a new work for the company- “Perceptions” ( 2019), Allison then went on to direct “Almost Maine” for the company ( Civic Theatre Playhouse 2020). In October this year, Allison will direct Nick Jones’s “Trevor” for Knock and Run Theatre and Katie Pollock’s “Normal” for Hunter Drama in November.

Allison is currently studying her Post Graduate degree in ‘Theatre and Performance’ through The University of New England.
