Dayarne Smith
Dayarne Smith is a self-taught abstract artist based in the beautiful Upper Hunter in New South Wales. She grew up in a home filled with eclectic art, textiles and mementoes her parents collected on their overseas travels. Bold, quirky and abstract, each piece had a story and added to the personality of the home. It sparked a love of colour, textiles and design that now finds its way onto her canvas. Dayarne’s paintings capture an emotions, places or moments in time, using bold colour, visual and physical texture and expressive brushstrokes. After spending two decades as a writer, she started painting in her 40s. With no formal training, Dayarne's curiosity and love of learning often finds her taking online classes or scouring the internet to learn about new techniques and mediums. She works from her home studio in Muswellbrook NSW.
