Watch the next generation of contemporary dance choreographers aged 15 - 21 present their new works across a series of Heats and Finals. The performances of choreographic works will be judged by a jury of professional choreographers. Who will take home the prize money?

The Hunter Youth Contemporary Choreographic Award is a new initiative for young choreographers aged 15 - 21 produced by Catapult Dance Choreographic Hub.

This new initiative was born out of the desire to get young people choreographing in the Hunter, to explore their own creativity and choreographic voice. To be able to look at the world around them, as inspiration and a catalyst to start creating – to find the next generation of dance makers.

21 young choreographers have created an original new work to be performed on the 27th of August at Catapult Dance Choreographic hub (880 Hunter St, Newcastle West)

Choreographers will also be asked to discuss their choreographic process in 500 words to complement their work.

They will be judged by a Jury of Professional Choreographers including Joshua Thomson, Jasmin Sheppard and Kristina Chan.

1st, 2nd and highly commended prizes will be given.

Heat 1: 10.30 am - 12.30 pm
Heat 2: 3.00 pm - 5.00 pm
Finals: 6.30 pm - 9.00 pm
