Cadi McCarthy
Cadi McCarthy has been actively engaged in dance as a professional dancer, choreographer, educator and director. Cadi holds a Masters in Education, Diploma of Education (Secondary) and (Further Education & Training), and a BA Dance. In 2014, Cadi founded Catapult Dance Choreographic Hub in Newcastle. In 2018 Cadi was the recipient of of the NSW Mid-Career Regional Arts Fellowship
Between 2009 – 2013, Cadi was the Artistic Director of Buzz Dance Theatre, WA. With the company Cadi created over 10 full length works to critical acclaim. The work Look the Other Way, received a 2014 Australian Dance Award for Outstanding Achievement in Youth and Community Dance. Whilst with the company Cadi established and grew numerous community programs. The Big Stretch program was awarded the 2010 Outstanding Achievement in Community/ Regional Dance at the WA Dance Award and the 2010 Arts and Aboriginal Health Award.
Cadi was the recipient of a 2007 Churchill Fellowship, and Canada. In the same year she was awarded a residency at Chez Bushwick in New York. In 2009 Cadi travelled to Taiwan as the Australian Delegate of the World Dance Alliance.
