Karl Brandstater
Artist Bio
Karl Brandstater is a writer, director and producer.
My work commenced behind the camera capturing foreign language documentaries in Europe and Asia. I have gathered over 30 years of experience in documentary and factual TV productions, including TV commercials, corporate narratives and music video entertainment.
My craft naturally gravitates to anthropological themes and non-fiction narrative and has now gathered broadcasting screen credits in various world territories, including the US, Canada, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Spain, Russia, Poland, Turkey, Japan, China and throughout Australasia.
My work has also involved archeology and history along the Lycian coast of Turkey and throughout the Mediterranean, including the Aegean Islands, Sicily, Italy, The Veneto and Coté D'Azur and France. My early career also entailed capturing a series of foreign language documentaries in Russia after Perestroika's historical events and the USSR's becoming a Republic with the titles "Vladivostok - 'The Opening Of Closed City" and "Lake Baikal - Splendor of Siberia".
Embracing both long and short narrative forms, including hybrid narrative modes and new technologies, is part of my practice. I regularly commit my work to social issues, health, medical, education and the environment.
Currently, I am part of a writing team for a new drama series earmarked to be capture in the Hunter.
I love the power of authenticity and truth in storytelling and apply this sensibility to strategic brand narratives.
I am also proud to be part of the Hunter Creative Alliance.
